Behind The Lens.
Behind the Lens is the travel photography blog of Annie Greevenbosch and Luke Dokic - fine art photographers and storytellers featured in National Geographic and BBC.
From portrait series in the backstreets of Albania to chasing dawn over Vietnam's misty rice terraces, we document the world one frame at a time. Here you'll find the stories, techniques, and creative decisions behind each image: the gear we carry, the conditions we shoot in, and the human moments that make travel photography worth pursuing. Whether you're a fellow photographer looking for inspiration, or simply someone who loves travel and visual storytelling, pull up a seat and stay a while.
Too Good to Be True? Investigating a £7.58 “Hoya” UV Filter
I bought an 82mm Hoya UV filter on eBay for just £7.58 to protect my new Tamron 150-500mm lens, and I was sceptical from the start. When it arrived, the signs were there: heavily pixelated packaging, a barcode printed directly on the box instead of a separate label, and a surface that lacked the coloured reflection of a genuine multi-coated filter. Following the approach in Gough Lui’s investigation of a fake Hoya PRO1, I compared it against a known genuine filter. Here’s what I found, why it matters for image quality, and how to spot a counterfeit before you buy.
